Forklift Operator / Gas Cylinder Handler

We are seeking a reliable Forklift Operator / Gas Cylinder Handler to join our team in a highly physical, fast-paced environment. This role involves operating a forklift, loading and unloading stock, and the manual handling of gas bottles/cylinders throughout the day. It is a very physically demanding position, requiring a strong focus on safety, fitness, and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities



Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to move stock, pallets, and gas cylinders around the site.



Load and unload gas bottles from trucks, storage areas, and work zones.



Perform frequent manual handling of gas cylinders, including lifting, carrying, rolling, and positioning them safely.



Conduct pre-start forklift checks and report any faults or maintenance issues.



Ensure cylinders are stored, labelled, and separated correctly in line with safety procedures.



Maintain a clean and organised work area to reduce hazards and support smooth operations.



Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, particularly when handling hazardous or pressurised goods.



Assist with general warehouse or yard duties as required.

Skills and experience



Current forklift licence.



Previous experience in a warehouse, transport, yard, or industrial environment.



Experience with manual handling in physically intensive roles.



Ability to work safely with gas bottles, cylinders, or hazardous materials is highly regarded.



Good awareness of workplace safety procedures.



Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.

Physical requirements



This is a highly physical role involving repetitive lifting and handling.



You must be comfortable with heavy manual work throughout the shift.



Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and lift repeatedly in a demanding environment.



Able to work in indoor and outdoor conditions, depending on site requirements.
